Goh Shou Yi is a Singapore-based movement artist and choreographer whose practice is driven by curiosity about the relationship between the human body and society. His work explores how social environments shape the ways we move, behave and relate to the world around us.
Working across disciplines, Shou Yi collaborates with local and international artists to create and present works on various platforms and festivals, including the Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Singapore International Arts Festival, Gothenburg Fringe Festival, New Dance for Asia International Dance Festival, d’Motion International Dance Festival and Cont.act Dance Festival (Formerly M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival).
A recipient of the National Arts Council Arts Scholarship, Shou Yi was recognised by Lianhe Zaobao as a “Rising Star to Watch” in 2015 and received the inaugural NAFA Young Alumni Medal in 2025.
Alongside his independent artistic practice, Shou Yi is a Lecturer at the School of Dance, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore (UAS). Through his work with fellow artists and younger generations, he continues to explore different perspectives on movement, the body and the world around us.
HIGHLIGHTS
Shou Yi was honoured with the inaugural NAFA Young Alumni Medal 2025, presented by the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore (UAS), in recognition of his artistic excellence, international collaborations, and his meaningful contributions to the growth of contemporary dance and the arts community.
